Breast Revision Surgery at South Coast Plastic Surgery
Are you unhappy with the results of a previous breast augmentation surgery and want to make changes? Then it’s time to discover breast revision surgery at South Coast Plastic Surgery in Ladera, CA!
What is Breast Revision Surgery?
Breast revision surgery is a procedure designed to revise results from a previous breast augmentation or breast lift procedure. This revision process can apply to women who are unhappy with the results of a former surgery, or who need to replace their implants with new ones. The breast revision surgery can be surprisingly different from the initial breast augmentation surgery, which is why it’s important to choose a plastic surgeon with plenty of experience helping women achieve their ideal results.
How Does It Work?
Breast revision surgery is customized to fit the patient’s exact needs. For example, some women may want to replace their implants, while others may want to remove their implants entirely. In those cases, the breast revision surgery can include a breast lift, which is done to help prevent sagging skin.
No matter what your goals for your breast revision, Dr. Song will work with you to ensure that you’re comfortable with and excited about your results!
Am I a Good Candidate For Breast Revision Surgery?
Some of the most common reasons for wanting a revision are: wanting to change the size of the implants (usually smaller), the implant(s) being in the wrong place, capsular contracture or simply wanting the implants removed.
You’re a good candidate for breast revision surgery if you want to replace your implants or you’re unhappy with the results from your previous surgery. Some women may want a breast revision surgery if they want to remove their implants and get their old breasts back. The best candidates are healthy nonsmoking individuals with good skin laxity and realistic expectations for their procedure.
Some women may want the implants and capsules out and opt for a breast lift or fat transfer to the breast, using their own tissue to restore volume to the breast.
Consultations Are Available Now
Take the first step. Get your questions answered and find out which treatment option is best for you by meeting with one of our knowledgeable medical staff at South Coast Plastic Surgery for an in-person consultation.
What Results Will I See?*
Results will largely depend on the goals of your breast revision surgery. For example, if you opted to remove the implants altogether, you may immediately notice a reduction in breast size upon waking from surgery. Other results take about 4-6 weeks to appear if a lift was also performed.
Results can be exciting and confidence-boosting, especially if you’re seeking out breast revision surgery as a result of feeling unhappy with your previous breast augmentation procedure.
What is the Recovery Like?*
Recovery will be very similar to your first breast augmentation procedure, in that it usually takes place over four to six weeks. You should expect to take the first week off from work, or two weeks if you have a manual job that requires you to lift anything. Expect to arrange care at home – especially if you have small children – as you won’t be able to lift anything heavier than ten pounds until cleared by your doctor.
For the majority of your recovery, you should plan on wearing compressive bras (like sports bras) to help keep swelling down. We recommend refraining from intercourse for the first two weeks after surgery; you should be cleared for your normal gym routine after about four to six weeks, or whenever the doctors at South Coast Plastic Surgery gives the green light.
