Surgical Labiaplasty at South Coast Plastic Surgery
Do you feel self-conscious about the length and appearance of your labia? Have difficulty wearing yoga pants or discomfort with intimacy? Then it’s time to consider surgical labiaplasty at South Coast Plastic Surgery in Ladera, CA!
What is Labiaplasty?
Labiaplasty is the term used to describe the surgical correction of excessive or long labia minora. Also known as surgical vaginal rejuvenation, this procedure is a popular treatment option for women who feel self-conscious about their labia, to the point where they’re hesitant to engage with intimate partners. Some women may find intimacy painful or not pleasurable because of their anatomy. Labiaplasty can help relieve irritation and pain associated with the tugging or twisting of labia.
How Does It Work?
Most labiaplasty is performed as a corrective surgery, where your plastic surgeon will remove the excess labia and sew it up directly, which creates a shorter and neater appearance. Some labiaplasty procedures also focus on reducing the extra folds of skin around the clitoris, thus helping to improve the overall appearance of the labia, clitoris, and vaginal opening. Our surgeons use the “wedge” technique which has a well-hidden scar and maintains the normal appearance of pigmented skin and mucosa of the labia.
Am I a Good Candidate for Labiaplasty?
You’re a good candidate for labiaplasty surgery if you commonly experience pain and discomfort from your labia twisting and tugging, especially while walking or working out. A lot of candidates seek out this surgery in order to feel more confident with their intimate partners. All candidates for this procedure need to be healthy nonsmokers who have realistic expectations for their results.

What Results Will I See?*
Labiaplasty results can be seen right away, and usually include labia minora that appear much shorter and neater than before the surgery. In addition to an improvement in appearance, most patients experience immediate relief from the discomfort associated with twisting and tugging.
What is the Recovery Like?*
We usually recommend that patients take a few days off of work, as they heal. Our doctors have a customized recovery protocol to minimize downtime and swelling and have you recovered safely and quickly.
Patients will be counseled on when they can resume intercourse. Most swelling is gone within a month, although patients should expect some minor swelling to be present for a few weeks after this.
