What is the Sciton BBL?

Sciton BBL is an innovative treatment designed to minimize the appearance of hyperpigmentation, sun damage, wrinkles, and other complexion issues that come from getting older. BBL stands for broadband light, which means that it uses light energy to directly target and break down darker pigment against the skin. The end result is a more even skin tone that looks younger and firmer than it did before.

How Does the Sciton BBL Work?

The Sciton BBL laser works by delivering light energy directly to the dermis. Once this light energy hits the dermis, it targets and breaks down darker pigment within the dermal layers. These pigments are eventually reabsorbed by the body, leaving behind a smoother and more even skin tone that looks ready for its close-up. The Sciton BBL laser can even be used to treat spider veins and rosacea, making it one of the hardest-working laser treatments in its class. It can also be used on skin of color and patients with melasma.

Am I a Good Candidate For the Sciton BBL Laser?

You’re a good candidate for the Sciton BBL laser if you want to minimize signs of hyperpigmentation, facial veins, wrinkles, and fine lines, red acne scars, sun damage, and more. Patients with melasma can also benefit. The BBL Laser works best on patients with medium-to-light skin tones, as its easier to target darker pigment against lighter skin tones.

Consultations Are Available Now

Take the first step. Get your questions answered and find out which treatment option is best for you by meeting with one of our knowledgeable medical staff at South Coast Plastic Surgery for an in-person consultation.

How Long Does a Typical Treatment Take?

A typical treatment takes about 25 to 45 minutes to perform, depending on the type of complexion issue you’re looking to target. Most patients feel a mild warming sensation during their BBL laser procedure. Optimum results often take 2 to 3 sessions to undo the damage that has already happened to your skin. Maintaining your results can be done every few months the same way you would maintain your botox or filler. A good rule of thumb is if you’re ready for a touch up on botox or filler, it may be time for your BBL as well.

What Results Will I See?*

Results include a smoother and more even skin tone, along with reduced signs of hyperpigmentation, sun damage, and facial redness. Most patients need about 3 to 5 BBL treatments (spaced about 3 weeks apart) to see these results.

Is There Any Downtime?

There’s no significant downtime associated with the BBL laser treatment, although you may notice that your skin appears a bit more flushed for a few days. It’s important to wear sunscreen after your BBL laser treatment, as your skin will be sensitive to the sun’s UV rays.
